Here it is, Salsa Team Canada 2003!
If you thought last year was alot (over 40 dancers in 3 cities), this
year just got crazier -- over 50 dancers in 6 cities! So take the challenge
of coordinating 3 cities in the East and add 3 more cities in the West
and you have twice the headaches, but twice the opportunity of getting
to know more salseros...
We've already had shows in Ottawa, Edmonton and Montreal in the last
few months, with lots more to follow...
Stay tuned for updates from each City, and get ready for our upcoming
fundraising parties in a city near you...

Members of the Ottawa and Montreal Salsa Team Canada performed this past
weekend at Winterlude in Ottawa Canada. Picture it, an oversized ice castle
in the midst of a winter wonderland with hot Latin Island music being
pumped out in –30 degree (Celsius) weather. 15 dancers performed
on the ice castle stage for two days this past Sat and Sun Feb 15 and
16th in our nations capital. With
a total of 24 shows in 2 days, the Salsa Team Canada members had winter
salsa dancing down to a science. Each performance was capped at 3 minutes
max as the weather took its toll on our fingers and exposed skin by
this time. We learned this the hard way, as two dancers fell victim
to frostbite on their fingers during our first set of performances.
Mitts were now mandatory and no one went on without them after that.
As one of the main
attractions in Confederation Park, the team got a lot of exposure. Each
set had one song with audience participation where Salsa Team Canada
members would go out in the audience an ask one of the spectators to
come on stage and dance merengue with them. This was well received and
we had no shortage of volunteers!
Thank you to Jose
and to all the Ottawa dancers (Janet, Mehmet, Hilda, Ainsley, Alla,
Ender, George, Michelle and Tamer, Roy, Andrea and Mary Jo) and special
thanks go out to Salsa Etc dancers from Montreal, (Edson, Dominique,
Marc and Phirum) for driving down to help us make this event a huge
success.
From the Salsa Team
Popsicle’s, we hope to see you at one our Fundraisers across Canada
later this year! Stay tuned as we announce the dates across Canada in
a City near you!

It's finally official -- we have 69 dancers across 6 cities -- Vancouver,
Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal! We'll be posting updates
regarding the teams in each City in the upcoming weeks...
Also, Salsa Team Canada has been asked to perform at the Winter Interlude
in Ottawa! You can watch about 18 dancers representing Salsa Team Canada
in action at Confederation Park (Laurier and Elgin St) in Ottawa at the
following times:
Saturday, February 15th: 11:30 am, 1 pm, 3 pm
Sunday, February 16th: 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm
Each set is 20 minutes in duration.
Hope to see you there!
