Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When are the next auditions for Salsa Team Canada?
Auditions are now closed for 2003; but will commence again in the late Fall of 2003 for the 2004 Team. So stay tuned as the audition dates will be posted sometime in late September/early October, 2003.

Please note that the Ottawa auditions are always held on the Sunday the weekend of the Ottawa Salsa Congress in November.

What do I wear?

Just comfortable clothing with jazz or ballroom shoes would be preferable.

Do I need a dance partner?
No, a dance partner is not necessary -- if chosen, you will get paired off.

What type of experience must I have?
Ideally, you should be an intermediate-advanced salsa dancer with the ability to learn, pick up moves and/or be willing to spend time to practice if necessary to keep up with the rest of the team.

Questions at the Audition to be filled out?

Do you want to perform and represent Canada?

If so, here's your chance! Again, we are looking for dancers, choreographers, a marketing/fundraiser for each city and corporate sponsors. Please note that we are now officially registered as a non-profit organization.

Audition Questionnaire:

1. Are you interested in performing at the 2003 Bacardi Salsa Congress in San Juan, Puerto Rico to represent Canada and other affiliated Canadian Salsa Congresses, such as Montreal and Ottawa.

2. Are you an amateur or professional dancer? Are you an instructor? How many hours a week do you dance in total?

3. Are you a team player? Are you able to commit 3hrs/week from January to April and 5hrs/week thereafter until show time?

4. Are you willing to travel to Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto if you're on the East Coast? Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton if you're on the West Coast?

5. Are you willing to pay your way to Puerto Rico, i.e. flight, hotel, food, etc… You must be able to participate in fundraising events and/or get sponsored?

6. Do you have a steady partner? If not, you can be matched with someone at the audition.

If you've answered yes to most of these questions, you can contact Sonia (Montreal) or Rose (Toronto) for more information.

See you at the auditions and "Que viva la Salsa"!!!!

We hope to see you at one of our events in the year 2003!
