| Introduction |
![]() Salsa Team Canada 2003, now in its second year, is a project that aspires to unite all Salseros across Canada to dance at world congresses. Initially, our goal was the Bacardi Salsa Congress in Puerto Rico for July, 2002. Our mission is to have Canadian Salsa recognized on an international level. We hope to offer the opportunity to all dancers to share their love of dancing as well as solidify the Salsa network nationwide. Our country's mosaic of cultures enriches the way we interpret Salsa music and dance -- making us unique in style. Initially, three Canadian cities, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa, will be holding auditions to select the dancers who will represent each City and ultimately, Canada. |
| How did this dream come about? |
|
Sonia of San Tropez, Montreal, had performed in Puerto Rico every year with her professional dance troupe and thought wouldn't it be wonderful if we could form a "Team Canada". While at the Puerto Rico Salsa Congress last July, she had approached Bong from Toronto with this idea who then spoke to Rose Knows of TOsalsa.com. Immediately Rose looked around for Sonia to see how this idea could become a reality and while sunning on the beach, they started the wheels turning. At the Ottawa Salsa Congress in November, 2001, Sonia, Rose and Roy met up, finalized details and started auditions in each of the Cities -- Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal; and the rest is history in the making... |
