Not quite into the Groove... but Summer Salsa is definitely going to sizzle!
Real life has been keeping me busy and unfortunately away from the salsa scene, but at least I have SYTYCD to console me for now!
If you look at "What's Happening", there are tons of summer events and street festivals to choose from -- can't believe the no. of choices you have until the end of the season, along with the Canadian Salsa Festival in Ottawa on July 25-29! There's lots of instructors and performers I haven't seen in years!

Getting Back Into the Groove...
It's been awhile since you've seen any updates to the Rose Knows section since my computer crashed last Summer and could not decide on which new "toy" I would get until early this Year; and forgot how much work it is to set it up with new software!!! That's how time-consuming new gadgets can take of your time and trying to fit it into a new schedule where fitness workouts can easily outnumber salsa workouts!

Salsa from Toronto to Beijing!
So, after going absolutely crazy getting ready for my 5 week Trip to Asia... I planned it so well that I spend my last night in TO at the Canada Salsa Congress... but did not plan it well enough to watch the shows. It was great seeing everyone and everyone seemed to have a great time socializing and dancing at the Congress.
What was smart was only getting 3 hours sleep the last two nights before I left in "preparation"for my trip as it is a 12 hour time difference.
Being so rushed... I didn't think about dancing in Beijing, but actually had a night free before I climbed the Great Wall of China; brought along an 6'4" Aussie as a "bodyguard" and we got lost together trying to find Salsa Caribe which was slightly in a "dark alley"behind a main street. Thank goodness my Aussie friend came along with me... he was such a good sport that I actually got him to dance a merengue and a bachata.
The club was fairly busy with hardcore dancers; and I only was able to fit in one dance with a regular who was dancing pretty much all night long -- no shortage of women and very few men who knew how to dance (and were wearing dance sneakers). UnlikeToronto, for a Monday night, most dancers left by 11-11:30 pm -- probably because they had to work the next day.
They seem to know some moves but I could see many could not execute them as well as in North America, but still it was nice to hear from salsa music and have a dance.
I doubt I'll find salsa for the rest of the trip until I get to Bangkok, and I will probably be dancing on my last two days (Fri/Sat) before I leave back to Toronto!
Happy Post-Thanksgiving everyone and hope you're all having as great a time as I am...
PS Who can think of dancing after you've climbed the Great Wall of China for 3 hours!!!
