BURN THE FLOOR, featuring 44 World Champion Ballroom Dancers from 16 countries, will seduce you with its heart-pounding display of dance pyrotechnics. Through the cool of the Viennese Waltz to the heat of Latin Salsa, from the Lindy Hop to the Cha Cha, BURN THE FLOOR is an exhilarating spin through the history of social dance that moves with such passionate vitality, technical virtuosity and infectious rhythm that you will go ballistic for Ballroom! BURN THE FLOOR was originally conceived three years ago at Elton John's 50th birthday bash when the singer/songwriter staged a phenomenal display of ballroom and Latin dancing, captivating his 600 guests. The event inspired famed Australian promoter Harley Medcalf (Lord of the Dance) to create the most groundbreaking theatrical dance spectacular to hit the shores and floors of North America. BURN THE FLOOR debuted in the United States at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles before moving to Radio City Music Hall. BURN THE FLOOR reinvents Ballroom dancing by presenting the coolest, sexiest and most entertaining combinations of music and dance, thrusting the art of dance to dizzying new heights, and changing the staid perception of Ballroom forever. Receiving standing ovations and worldwide rave reviews for phenomenal skill, energy and passion, the sexy, steamy cast of BURN THE FLOOR has converted legions of fans to dance styles that flourished in the 20th Century while continuing to be contemporary with the inclusion of street and industrial dance. For BURN THE FLOOR, producer and creator Medcalf utilizes his inimitable talents to craft a revolutionary dance show that taps champion ballroom talent from around the world and draw's upon the expertise of director/choreographer Anthony Van Laast. Medcalf's creative team also includes Mark Fisher, set designer for Pink Floyd's The Wall Tour; Patrick Woodroffe, lighting designer for the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Tour; Bonita Bryg, world-class British costume designer; and Lindsay Hillier-Tate, ballroom consultant and five-time world ballroom champion. After viewing the PBS Great Performances Special, a critic from the Cleveland Plain Dealer exclaimed, "If the live performance generates as much heat as the televised production, the fire department had better be on call!" After experiencing the show live, a critic in Germany pronounced, "During the finale the floor literally burns and the heels of the dancer's shoes smoke!" Would
