A friend and I were down in Cancun, Mexico in Feb. and we were sick of all the typical dance clubs along the strip. We wanted to go to a salsa club. Acting on a recommendation from a staff member of our hotel, we headed to a club called "Mambo Cafe", more towards the city. We weren't anticipating much, expecting it to be very "touristy", but we thought we'd give it a try anyway. Boy were we surprised. The entrance to this club was inside of a shopping mall, but once inside, it was like we were transported to some other place. The club was fairly large with plenty of table seating surrounding the dance floor. The decorations in the club were absolutely astonishing. It was like we were in the middle of a jungle. There is a stage in the centre with a waterfall at the back of it. We were so impressed that we went back to the club the next night. There was a live band both nights in addition to DJ music (all Latin). My friend and I were the only two tourists in the place. It was filled with extremely friendly locals. I have attached a picture of the inside of the club (what I could get in the camera view anyway).

If anyone goes down there and wants a change from your typical dance club scene, I highly recommend checking out Mambo Cafe.
