Travel Diaries of ECUADOR

July, 1998 - Quito, Ecuador
(Valerie Imperial from Vancouver)

When I was in Ecuador, I was told that people don't dance 'juntos' - but instead 'separados' so I was kind of disappointed when I went to Seseribo - THE salsa club in Quito featuring 100% salsa music. The music was great and the people very friendly but not many people could dance the salsa I had learned in Toronto. It felt like I was dancing at Whiskey Saigon, but just to salsa music. The music was great though! The club was also very casual as it didn't seem to be a big deal that my friend and I were dressed to go hiking (we had just gotten back from the Cotopaxi Volcano that evening and went straight to the salsa club).
