My name is Charlotte. I dance and sing salsa music. Recently I picked up a CD titled "Margarita," it has the songs "La Vida Es Un Carnaval" (Samba, the one that you have on your site) and "Oiga, Mire, Vea." My Spanish is pretty cool, it's just that I usually figure out on my own about 90% of a Spanish song, the other 10% I either knew but could not understand by ear, or it's just plain new vocabulary. I was trying to find someone who could help me find the lyrics I am looking up on this CD, because I cannot find them in the search engines at all. The songs are called "Mentirosa" and "Pagina De Amor." The CD says Orquesta Fantasia but I think that most of the songs are not performed by the original artists, because I know that Celia Cruz originated "La Vida Es Un Carnaval" and this entire CD is performed by men (I think Victor Yanqui, but not sure if he sings all the songs). They are both my most favorite songs, and I understand most of each song but there are some important details I am not catching. Do you think you could help me? If so, thanks! In the 2002 Mayan world salsa competition The dancers "Johnny bravo and Christina walker" They danced on a very nice salsa song; I need you to send me the name of this song if anyone has it. They start the show with part of song "Rhythm of The Night - Valeria" from the Moulan Rouge soundtrack. And then they played that Salsa song I want. And then one more time they play another part of a song "Le Tango De Roxanne" from the Moulan Rouge soundtrack. And then they play the same salsa song again. Could you please send me the name? Love Songs "Cariñito" An almost un-translatable title that could mean sweet caress to sweetheart by Portorican Power; this has got to be the stickiest salsa love song ever. Hear it once and you will humm it all day... and night. "Con Sandra en la cama" (In bed with Sandra)by Jose Alberto "El Canario". A song about spending the day in bed. Need I say more? "Desde que te conoci" (Since I met you) by Ray Sepulveda. How meeting the perfect woman changes a man's perspective on life. "Es el amor quien llega" (It is love arriving) Original by Anna Gabriel, Salsa version by Hector Tricoche. For those who love being in love. A vivid description of that loving feeling... "Malagueña Salerosa" (Wow... another almost un-translatable title. Let see, Malagueña is a woman from Malaga, Spain, Salerosa, hum... that is a spanish adjective that has no equivalent in english, the closest being poised or proud...) Anyway, Back to the song. If memory serves me right the original is by Agustin Lara but there are salsa versions by Eddi Palmieri and a masterful rendition by Ley Alejandro that truly captures the passion of whishing to kiss the beautiful lips of her who is way above him. "Sazon" (Spice, or Taste) Celia Cruz giving tips for the perfect marriage. Anti-Love songs "Envidia" (Jealousy) Marc Anthony expounding of how un-ethical, amoral and un-principled jealousy can be. "Lloraras" (You will cry) Oscar D'Leon's promise of emotional retribution. The perfect song to sing to her right after she dumps you for someone else. "No vale la pena" (It is not worth it) Ray Sepulveda & Domingo Quiñones Two guys complaining about the price of falling in love. "Se me olvido otra vez" (I forgot again) Original By Juan Gabriel, Salsa Version by Fruko y sus Tesos. The hopelessness of not being able to get over the woman who never loved him. "Ya lo sé... que tu te vas" (I already know... that you will leave) Another Juan Gabriel song, this one covered by George Lamond. After much research, I found the song: it was Sunny Ray, by Mambo All-Stars, from the soundtrack of the Mambo Kings... I have been trying to find more music by this band, but have hit a stone wall. Hi, My name is Donald, I am 18, I've been dancing since April (but by watching me dance, you could not tell) and I believe I am a Salsa addict. I really would like to congradulate you on a great website. I visit it everyday (I especially like to clips. It's a great resource to borrow moves from). The only problem is that salsa is becoming my down fall. I can't get enough of it. I find myself picking salsa over school work (I am a freshman in college), but hey, I have to admit that salsa dancing is more fun. My only problem is that I live in Detroit, MI, a state/city that is not known for its salsa dancing. We are really struggle here. I am so crazy about salsa that I am actually considering transfering to a college in NY, just so I came dance more.
